UK–EU Youth Mobility Scheme: Status Tracker
There is no UK–EU youth mobility visa yet. Here's exactly where the negotiations stand, and how to be first to know if it launches.
Be the first to know if the UK–EU scheme launches.
The UK and EU are negotiating a "youth experience scheme" that would let young people aged 18 to 30 live, work and study in each other's territory for a limited period. So far both sides have agreed to work towards it, but no framework exists yet: the numbers, fees and timing are all still open.
This page tracks the real status rather than the speculation. If and when a scheme is actually agreed, this is where it will appear first, and you can set a reminder below to be emailed the moment it launches.
Frequently asked questions
Can EU citizens use a UK Youth Mobility visa right now? No. EU member states are not currently part of the UK Youth Mobility Scheme. A separate UK–EU "youth experience scheme" is under negotiation but has not been agreed or launched. A few European microstates (Andorra, Iceland, Monaco and San Marino) do participate in the existing scheme.
When will the UK–EU youth mobility scheme start? No start date has been set. The two sides are still negotiating key points, including whether there's a cap on numbers and what university fees EU students would pay. We update this page as concrete news emerges; set a reminder to be notified.
