Bay Medical Group are recruiting for a domestic assistant to undertake general cleaning of practice accommodation including clinical areas, waiting areas, corridors, kitchens and toilets.
This position is for 12.5 hours per week, working 4pm - 6:30pm Monday to Friday.
JOB SUMMARY
To ensure that the standard of cleanliness within the organisation is implemented and maintained, ensuring a clean environment for patient care in accordance with the NHS England National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025. Detailed information relating to the expected standards and specific cleaning frequencies are contained within the organisations Cleaning Standards and Schedule Policy.
A schedule of cleaning has been added to each area throughout the organisation and across our 5 sites. The Domestic Assistant is to maintain detailed records of activity for regular and robust cleaning audits.
To maintain good communications with both the Domestic Team and the Site Manager team.
PRIMARY KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the core responsibilities of a Domestic Assistant in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
To maintain cleaning standards using the recognised quality control procedures as detailed within the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 NHS England National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025
For auditing purposes, to maintain robust cleaning records to detail activity
To follow the cleaning schedule as stated in the Cleaning Standards and Schedule Policy
To ensure that the correct cleaning methods are observed
To use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner, adhering to manufacturers instructions
To replenish/order all consumable items (hand towels, toilet roll, etc.) as required
To remove general waste in accordance with the Waste Management Policy and Green Plan and Sustainable Development Policy
To always adhere to the colour coding system for cleaning equipment, seeking appropriate guidance if required. National colour coding scheme for General Practice Poster - Infection Prevention Control
To ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe and secure manner, adhering to COSHH, HASAW and other legislative acts and guidance
To undertake legionella flushing of systems within the organisation
To maintain communication and report any faulty equipment or defects to the management as soon as practically possible
To liaise with the Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager in the conducting of cleanliness audits and follow audit action plans to rectify any identified areas for improvement
Be an integral part of the general practice team
Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children.
Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months.
Performance and training will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed.
Periodic changing of curtains in clinical rooms.
Deep cleans.
Wider Responsibilities
Act as a designated keyholder, ensuring the general safety and security of the premises. This includes securing the building by locking all doors and windows, activating the intruder alarm (where applicable), and reporting any suspicious activity or security concerns in accordance with site-specific procedures.
Wearing, at all times, protective clothing provided by the Practice and keeping in a clean and serviceable condition.
Support other members of the Domestic Team as required.
Support and participate in shared learning.
