Electrical Engineer
HECK Food | Bedale, North Yorkshire | Full-time, on-site
About HECK
HECK is the UK’s number 1 premium sausage brand — family-run, independent, and growing fast from our factory in Bedale. We make food that people love, and we need the engineering team behind the scenes to keep production running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
The Role
We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team, supporting the electrical maintenance, reliability, and improvement of production and packing lines across a fast-paced food manufacturing site. You’ll work on everything from reactive fault-finding to planned maintenance and capital project installations, helping keep our factory running 7 days a week with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production, packing, and refrigeration equipment (PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, control panels)
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment
• Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and automation upgrades
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
• Ensure all electrical work complies with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards (BRC, HACCP)
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update documentation/schematics as changes are made
• Work closely with mechanical engineers and production teams to minimise downtime
• 4 on 4 off shift pattern
• Identify opportunities for process and reliability improvements (e.g. reducing breakdown frequency, energy efficiency)
What We’re Looking For
• Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent apprenticeship)
• Proven experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment — food or FMCG preferred but not essential
• Strong fault-finding skills across 3-phase power, control circuits, and PLC-driven equipment (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards is a plus (training provided if not)
• 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification desirable
• Comfortable working shifts and responding to breakdowns
• Practical, hands-on problem-solver who works well under pressure
• Good communicator, able to work across engineering, production, and quality teams
What HECK Offers
• Competitive salary, dependent on experience
• overtime opportunities
• Staff discount on HECK products
• A hands-on role where your work directly keeps the factory — and the business — running

Not necessarily. HECK! FOOD LIMITED holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
The offer must clear both the general threshold and the SOC 5241 going rate of £41,700. New-entrant and shortage discounts can lower it.
