SOC 3554 is an eligible occupation, but we are only 56% sure that is the right code. Luton Borough Council is a licensed sponsor, so if the code fits, the role should qualify. Check the occupation eligibility rules against what the job actually involves.
Worth checking: this could also be SOC 3221 (Youth and community workers, If community engagement and event delivery were the primary focus over marketing.), which is not on the eligible-occupation list. Ask Luton Borough Council what the duties actually are.
Salary: £39,152 - £41,771 a year pro rata
Hours: 37 hours a week
Contract type: Internal Secondment/ Fixed Term for 18 months
This role is available for 18 months. Internal candidates who are permanent employees of Luton Council will be appointed on a secondment basis, while external candidates and other eligible applicants will be appointed on a fixed-term contract for 18 months.
Current Luton Council employees applying for this opportunity must obtain written approval from their manager before applying (an email will suffice). A copy of this approval must be included with the application, as we will be unable to progress applications without it.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
What You’ll be doing
Join Luton Council as a Nature Activation and Marketing Officer and help bring more people closer to nature, parks and green spaces across the town. As part of the Roots to Healthy Places programme, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund through the Nature Towns and Cities initiative, you’ll help deliver an exciting programme of community events and marketing activity designed to inspire residents to enjoy and connect with nature.
Working within the Culture and Creativity team, you’ll plan and deliver a varied programme across two summer seasons, including family events, physical activities, creative workshops, performances, talks and guided tours. You’ll also create engaging content to promote activities and showcase Luton's green spaces through the Step Forward Luton website, social media and place app.
We’re looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic communicator with experience or knowledge of marketing or communications, alongside skills in content creation, design, event delivery and project management. If you’re passionate about engaging communities, supporting wellbeing and helping people discover the benefits of nature, we’d love to hear from you.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a proactive, creative and organised individual with experience in event planning, project management or marketing, and a real passion for engaging communities. You’ll plan and coordinate events and campaigns, work with partners and stakeholders, and help encourage more people to discover and enjoy Luton’s green spaces.
You’ll be a confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to create engaging content for social media and digital platforms and develop a range of promotional materials. Experience using design tools to create assets such as social media graphics and leaflets would be an advantage.
You’ll also be comfortable using data and feedback to evaluate projects, produce clear reports and make recommendations. Strong organisational skills, initiative and a positive, solution-focused approach are essential, along with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes and work effectively with a diverse range of communities and stakeholders.
Ready to make a difference? Join us and help inspire more people to connect with nature and discover what Luton’s green spaces have to offer.

Not necessarily. Luton Borough Council holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
The offer must clear both the general threshold and the SOC 3554 going rate of £41,700. New-entrant and shortage discounts can lower it.
