Product Associate

Beyond Retail is an award-winning multi-website online retailer offering bathroom, kitchen and heating products to Britain’s homeowners and tradespeople. We’re almost 15 years old, and in that time, we’ve accelerated from zero to £50m/year revenue, won local and national awards, and grown to 150-plus people. Our three websites - Drench, Tap Warehouse and Toasty - are growing from strength to strength, and we’re looking for a Product Associate who will sit within our Technology department and help us to continue our growth journey.

Our team purpose is to build and use technology to make life better for our customers and colleagues. We strive to solve the right things in the right way, but are rarely the end-users of the things we build. This is where our Product team comes in.

We are looking for a Product Associate to be the engine room of our ecommerce function. You’ll handle the research, the testing, and the fine-tuning of the systems that keep us moving. You’ll take ownership of the smaller projects that make a big difference ensuring our internal teams have exactly what they need to succeed. You’ll be the person who ensures that when we ship a new feature, it’s documented, the data is spot on, and everyone knows how to use it.

We aren’t looking for a finished product; this role is perfect for someone aspiring to build a career in Product Management. You will receive direct mentorship from our Product Manager and Tech Director, with a clear path to grow into a Product Manager role as you take on more ownership. We’re looking for someone detail-oriented who enjoys the "detective work" of research and process improvement. If you have experience in merchandising or ecommerce operations and a knack for data, you’ll thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the roadmap: Work closely with the Product Manager to turn big ideas into actionable plans through thorough research and clear communication.
• Master our tools: Take hands-on responsibility for the "fine-tuning" of our tech stack, including Akeneo (PIM), Algolia (Search), and Umbraco (CMS), ensuring they are working as hard as they possibly can
• Own projects and tickets: Take the lead on smaller, high-impact improvements and bug fixes, managing them from initial request through to successful launch
• Be the champion of data: Ensure our product data and system configurations are accurate, consistent, and optimised for a best-in-class customer journey.
• Bridge the knowledge gap: Create and deliver the documentation, guides, and "how-to" demos that empower our ecommerce function to get the most out of our technology.
• Test and validate: Act as the final line of defence for quality, ensuring that what the developers build actually solves the problem we set out to fix.

Key Skills:

• Experience in merchandising or ecommerce operations.
• A love for getting into the weeds of how things work, with a real drive to master and fine-tune the ecommerce tech stack (Akeneo, Algolia, Umbraco).
• A natural "detective" that enjoys solving problems and researching new features.
• A relentless eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, consistent product data and system configurations.
• Ability to create clear documentation, guides, and resources that help teams get the most from the tools they use.
• A disciplined, organised approach and a drive to identify opportunities to make daily processes run more smoothly.

• Salary of £30k- £35k DOE
