The Role and Opportunity

As an Associate in Asset Management at John Laing, you will support the investment analysis, valuation, and financial performance management of infrastructure assets across the European portfolio. Working closely with senior team members, you will contribute to financial modelling, valuation processes, and portfolio company support, helping to protect and grow the value of John Laing's investment portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• Asset Monitoring, Valuation and Financial Modelling: Monitor and assess asset performance against investment cases, and internal controls and processes. Conduct detailed financial modelling, scenario analysis, and regular valuations using techniques including DCF analysis. Coordinate the annual valuation process with external auditors and third-party firms and update valuation methodologies in collaboration with third parties to validate asset values.
• Reporting and Stakeholder Communication: Prepare detailed valuation reports and presentations for key internal committees and senior leadership.
• Performance Analysis and Risk Identification: Analyse existing assets to identify significant trends and emerging risks, supporting ongoing asset management strategies.
• Asset Management Support: Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior members of the European Asset Management team, providing financial analytical support to their initiatives for value creation and/or risk mitigation, support for capital structuring, refinancing, and assessments of potential bolt-on acquisitions.

What You Bring to the Role

Required

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
• Experience in infrastructure asset management or a related area, typically three years or more.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, including DCF analysis and other valuation techniques.

Preferred

• Experience with infrastructure investments and project finance.
• Commercial or contract management experience in a project finance or PPP environment.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks applicable to infrastructure assets.
