The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Junior Commercial Analyst to join our growing Plant & Transport team in Levenshulme (South Manchester)
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or someone with early experience in a commercial, finance, operations or analytical role who is looking to develop their career within a growing and ambitious business.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the commercial performance of our Plant & Transport operation. You’ll work with data from multiple sources, supporting reporting, cost analysis and initiatives focused on improving efficiency and reducing spend.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is confident with data, highly skilled in Excel and keen to learn. While previous Plant or Fleet experience would be beneficial, we are equally interested in finding someone who is switched on, commercially minded and has the drive to develop.
As the team continues to grow, this role will offer excellent exposure and opportunities to develop your commercial and analytical experience
What You'll Do
- Support the production of weekly and monthly Plant & Transport cost and utilisation reports.
- Analyse data to identify trends, variances and opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain and update commercial trackers covering fleet costs, utilisation and contractor spend.
- Work with multiple data sources and systems, supporting the centralisation and cleansing of information.
- Support hire, purchase and disposal analysis for Plant and Transport assets.
- Prepare data packs and reporting for commercial reviews with operational, commercial and finance stakeholders.
Support ad hoc reporting, cost-benefit analysis and business cases.Assist with supplier and tender evaluation processes.Support the monitoring of KPIs and SLAs across Plant & Transport suppliers.Maintain accurate records to support commercial and audit requirements.Support the continued development of reporting tools and systems, including future Power BI reporting.
Essential
What you'll bring
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP.
- Confidence working with data and producing reports.
- Ability to work with multiple data sources and manage competing deadlines.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders.
- A commercially minded approach with an interest in understanding costs, performance and efficiency.
- A proactive, driven and ambitious attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable
- A degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience within a commercial, finance, operations, administration or analytical role.
- Experience or exposure to Plant, Fleet or Transport operations.
- Experience within Construction, Utilities, Energy or Infrastructure.
- Familiarity with ERP, Asset Management or Fleet Management systems.
- Exposure to Power BI or other reporting and data visualisation tools.
- Understanding of commercial terms, supplier performance, KPIs or SLAs.
