Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Payments and Finance Coordinator for an initial 3-month contract with possible 3-month extension on a day rate of £220-£270 (inside IR35). Hybrid working, with Tuesdays and Wednesday onsite in West Edinburgh. Interviews w/c 14/09, anticipated start date w/c 21/09
Responsibilities:
- Manage the payments process and reconcile the payments in an accurate and timely manner. Update the appropriate systems and provide payment verification assurance inline with financial procedures / regulations and legislation.
- Manage, plan, delegate and allocate staff resources to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments.
- Completes complex ad hoc calculations and analysis throughout the month for all payments to contractors, Boards members of the public and to be processed.
- Deal with payment and financial enquiries and deal sensitively and confidentially.
- Investigate and analyse payment trends.
- Manage the setting up of new contractors/customers details and verify all inputs for accuracy within the finance system and ensuring all records are maintained and stored in line with data protection standards and information governance on a daily basis.
- Organise and plan the management of the Annual payment verification programme.
- Ensures procedures for security and confidentiality of data are maintained and that all regulations and policies are adhered to, e.g. data protection. Review current operating procedures/ quality process documentation suggesting improvements to working practices for more effective delivery of the service.
- Manage the production of routine and ad-hoc reports from excel and system reporting tools and prepare the production of quarterly management reports for Boards, which covers all aspects of payments/payment verification work undertaken, including annual risk assessment.
- Maintain good relations with Organisations and Contractors to facilitate submission of claims for payment and to ensure that queries on any aspect of the payments from practitioners or their staff are resolved in line with the quality standards.
- Training, motivating and developing each team number to maximum their potential and effective contribution to the work of the department, through objective setting and review and development process.
Essential Skills:
- Educated to HNC/HND level, preferably in a finance related discipline.
- Proven experience in a related environment (Minimum 3 years)
- Demonstrable aptitude with standard Microsoft packages (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Excellent numeracy, accuracy, keyboard and communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of finance packages e-Efin, CoMAP and FPM
- Able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to forward plan and prioritise workload
- Good understanding of confidentiality.
- A team player with the ability to work independently and use own initiative.
- Flexible with positive attitude.
- Understanding of equal opportunities and valuing diversity
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
