PTS Operations Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the Patient Transport Service (PTS) management team. The position is in Greater Manchester (east 2) with the base being Whitefield station, on a full-time and permanent basis.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team of PTS Operational Managers with responsibility for the effective management of the staff in PTS operations, ensuring the provision of a first-class PTS.

Applicants should have developed knowledge of the NHS and local context, and hold a recognised management/leadership qualification or suitable relevant experience. Applicants should be able to evidence ongoing personal development and have excellent communication skills.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

• Degree or equivalent experience
• Recognised management qualification(s) gained through additional study
• Evidence of recent, ongoing personal development
• Highly developed knowledge of NHS national and local context
• Holds a valid driving licence, regular requirement for driving

Experience

Essential

• Substantial management experience and knowledge in related commercial, operational health and social care services
• Experience across a number of disciplines including performance management, information systems, contracting, staff management and financial management
• Experience of leading, managing and motivating high performing, disparate teams in a strong performance management culture
• Experience of leading and successfully implementing change, able to communicate changes when facing a degree of hostility
• Budget management experience

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced the NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
