SOC 2126 (85% match) is an eligible occupation, with a going rate of £52,400, and EVOLITO LTD is a licensed sponsor. That is our reading of the rules. Whether they issue a Certificate of Sponsorship is still their call.
This could also be SOC 2129 (Engineering professionals not elsewhere classified., Materials engineering not specifically aerospace; n.e.c. fits). We read the code off the advert, so it is our best guess, not the employer's.
Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to join the Materials team. In this role, you will manage and deliver materials characterisation programmes essential for airworthiness certification.
Key responsibilities will include:
Manage and deliver materials characterisation activities, including the determination of thermal and mechanical properties through in-house testing and by working with appropriate external test houses
Process and manage materials data for use in airworthiness certification programmes using Granta Materials Intelligence
Apply knowledge of composites, metals, polymers and adhesives to improve Evolito’s understanding of these materials
Develop and define test procedures to assess the robustness of selected materials throughout their full product lifecycle
Support design and manufacturing teams in developing new and existing processes, including special processes
Advise on the selection and application of materials across Evolito’s product portfolio
Report, interpret and present experimental results and analysis to technical stakeholders
Support production teams during new build activities, particularly when transferring new processes into production
Work with cross-functional teams on failure investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Skills and experience required:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Engineering or a related discipline
Strong materials engineering background, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to practical engineering challenges
Good understanding of a broad range of materials and associated manufacturing processes, including metals, polymers, composites and adhesives
Previous experience in a relevant industry, ideally aerospace, automotive or electric motors for other applications
Creative problem-solving skills, supported by an analytical and structured approach
Confidence working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Flexible approach, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
Self-starting attitude, with energy, enthusiasm and the ability to work effectively in a small business environment
Approachable, collaborative and professional working style
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
