Job Scope
The Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for carrying out structural calculations and providing expert level advice on mobile telecommunication sites in the UK and Ireland.
The role will involve working with the wider Design Team and professional interaction with various Clients across the country. The role will be based in Manchester, however travel to site & client locations across the UK will be required.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide expert level advice to the KTL Design Team
Support the KTL Design Engineers/Authorities and CAD Technicians, in additional to the Contractors on site during Build stages
Optimize the site design proposals for towers, monopoles, and rooftop antenna mounting structures, to simplify and reduce the cost of construction
Undertake and check site specific structural design analysis in order for submission, and also to avoid redundant structural design
Understand local conditions and tailor site designs to match the local environment, ensuring the designs are compliant with all Health and Safety requirements, and the relevant British Standards/Eurocodes.
Use various structural software to streamline the calculation process, i.e. Masterseries; STAADPro; MS Tower; ROBOT etc.
Prioritise workloads and meet key deadlines in a pressurised, target driven environment, whilst maintaining a customer focused ethos
Professional Requirements
A near-Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer. Chartership under the ICE or IStructE is preferred
A minimum 5 years’ experience in civil/structural design in any industry
An excellent understanding of towers, monopole and all antenna support structures Familiar with both Eurocodes and British Standards
An in depth understanding of value engineering and the principles of cost-effective designs
A flair to produce non-standard designs to meet environmentally driven requirements
Experience of ensuring quality through design and designing within Health and Safety guidelines
Excellent negotiation skills to be able to influence the decision of discussions with customers and suppliers
