Job Introduction
As Automation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, fault finding and continuously improving the automation and electrical systems on all plant and equipment within the Beverages Filling Hall, from depalletising, filling and inspection through to packing, palletising, pallet labelling and AGV transport.
You will provide specialist PLC, drive, network and HMI support to minimise downtime on our high speed lines, delivering OEE improvements in line with overall Group guidelines whilst ensuring safety and compliance. You will also support line modifications, upgrades and New Product Development trials from an automation perspective, working closely with OEMs such as Krones and System Logistics. Alongside this, you will keep control system backups and documentation up to date and share your knowledge to help develop other engineers and apprentices.
The Key Requirements
- HNC in Engineering (minimum)
- Time-served apprenticeship in an electrical, automation or mechatronics discipline
- Working knowledge of SAP, including creating orders and searching for parts, and Prisma
- Excellent Knowledge of PLCs including Siemens, S7 is essential
- S7 PLC programming using TIA Portal and STEP 7, including SCL
- In depth fault finding on automation and electrical systems
- Working knowledge of B&R control systems and ACOPOS drives, SEW drives, Profinet and Profibus networks, and Zenon HMI
- Knowledge of high speed filling and packing lines, ideally Krones
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and safe isolation, including LOTO
