SOC 2126 (74% match) is an eligible occupation, with a going rate of £52,400, and British Airways is a licensed sponsor. That is our reading of the rules. Whether they issue a Certificate of Sponsorship is still their call.
This could also be SOC 2123 (Electrical engineers) or SOC 2129 (Engineering professionals not elsewhere classified). We read the code off the advert, so it is our best guess, not the employer's.
New graduate or PhD holder? Pick one of the lower rates.

What You’ll Do
As Technical Support Engineer – Avionics, you will:
- Develop practical, cost-effective non-standard avionics repair designs and installation solutions that enable safe, timely aircraft delivery.
- Prepare repair design documentation under Part 145 and Part 21 approvals, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and applicable airworthiness directives.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing clear guidance to Team Leaders and Engineers on avionics repair and maintenance matters.
- Work with customers, aircraft manufacturers, OEMs, Part 21 approval holders and technical representatives to agree solutions and meet operational requirements.
You will bring an uncompromising commitment to safety, security, quality, process and regulatory compliance, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective technical solutions. An assured communicator, you will have strong presentation, influencing and negotiation skills, with the resilience to work under pressure, balance competing priorities and adapt to changing operational demands. You will also take a collaborative, customer-focused approach, act with integrity and trust, and demonstrate the leadership capability to coach, motivate and support a high-performing team.
Your Experience
You will have at least five GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in an aircraft engineering environment. You will also hold an HNC, HND or degree in an engineering-related subject and have experience of avionics systems and repair design on relevant commercial aircraft types, such as Boeing aircraft. Previous approval as a Technical Services Engineer within another organisation is desirable. Knowledge of Part 145 and Part 21 requirements, along with experience of working with OEM and approved design documentation, would also be advantageous.
