The UK Youth Mobility Scheme lets Japan nationals aged 18 to 30 live and work in the UK for up to two years. There are 6,000 places available to Japan nationals in 2026. You can work for any employer, in any job, and even be self-employed.
It's one of the few UK routes that doesn't need an employer to sponsor you upfront, but it is time-limited. Many people use their two years to find a licensed sponsor and switch to a Skilled Worker visa before the clock runs out.
