Employment Solicitor 0-3 years PQE Job

Employment Solicitor job (NQ-2 Years PQE)

Wigan, Hybrid Working (2 Days Office / 3 Days Home)

Full time 35 hours per week

We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Employment Solicitor (NQ-2 years PQE) to join our growing team in Wigan.

Join our award-winning Employment team where you'll gain exposure to both claimant and respondent work, develop your expertise across contentious and non-contentious matters and build your career in a genuinely supportive environment.

At Stephensons, we're proud to be a Top 150 UK law firm, recognised as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work in 2025 and 2026, Investors in People Gold accredited and home to an award-winning Employment team that was named Employment Team of the Year at the Manchester Law Society Legal Awards and shortlisted for LexisNexis Employment Team of the Year.

Why this role is different

Unlike many employment law teams that focus solely on either employers or employees, we offer a unique blend of claimant and respondent work, giving you broader experience and a more rounded understanding of employment law than is typically available elsewhere in the market.

You'll enjoy varied exposure to:

• Employment Tribunal litigation
• Day-to-day HR and employment law advice
• Contentious and non-contentious employment matters
• Merit assessments and case strategy

We also have a wide range of funding arrangements across our caseload, providing excellent learning opportunities and exposure to different types of work.

A team where you can develop and thrive

This is an exciting time to join Phil Richardson and the Employment team. Following the recent expansion of our insurance panel work, the team continues to grow, creating excellent opportunities for progression and development.

We are particularly proud that all our current solicitors and partners within the team trained and developed their careers here. We invest in our people and provide the support needed to build long-term success.

From an early stage, you'll be encouraged to take ownership of your work, develop your own client relationships and work with a high degree of autonomy, whilst always having the support of experienced colleagues around you. Nobody gets lost here.

While we're a busy and ambitious team, we're also incredibly supportive, with dedicated secretarial, administrative and graduate paralegal support to help you focus on delivering excellent client service.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applicants with a wide range of strengths, thinking styles and lived experiences. We’re happy to discuss workplace adjustments or support that help you perform at your best.

We'd love to hear from qualified solicitors with up to two years' PQE.

Previous employment law experience would be advantageous, but it's not essential. If you're able to demonstrate a genuine passion for employment law and a commitment to building a career in this specialism, we'll provide the support and training to help you succeed.

Most importantly, you’ll share our values of approachable, flexible, inclusive, resilient and supportive and can demonstrate:

• Enthusiasm and a positive attitude
• A genuine commitment to employment law
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm and patient approach
• A hardworking and proactive mindset
• A collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute
