Our client is an innovative, early-stage biotechnology business seeking to appoint a Finance Manager to support its continued growth. The company is focused on developing novel therapeutics, with the long-term aim of addressing neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Description
Reporting directly to the Co-Founder and working closely with the senior leadership team, the Finance Manager will take ownership of day-to-day finance and financial control, whilst managing an outsourced finance team. The role is broad and varied, combining strategic input across budgeting, forecasting and board reporting with hands-on responsibility for month-end and year-end close, management accounts, cash flow and runway analysis, and the consolidation of multi-entity, multi-currency accounts across UK and overseas subsidiaries.
Additional responsibilities will include statutory accounts, tax compliance, R&D tax credit and grant funding claims, audit and regulatory filings, alongside cash management, payroll, expenses and supplier queries. The Finance Manager will act as the primary finance contact across the business and drive improvements to finance systems and processes, including the adoption of AI-powered tools. This is an opportunity to play a central role in maintaining the financial health and investor readiness of a growing business, with the scope of the position expanding as the company scales.
Skills
The successful candidate for this Finance Manager role will be a qualified accountant, with proven post-qualification experience gained in industry. Experience working within an early-stage or growing business would be advantageous, alongside the ability to operate in a hands-on, evolving environment. Prior sector experience is highly desirable.

The company operates a flexible hybrid working policy, with a requirement to attend its London offices at least one day per week.
