Senior Software Engineer, Permissions Platform - PDEGO

Sony Music’s Product, Design, Engineering and Global Operations (PDEGO) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Permissions Platform team in our King’s Cross London office.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll collaborate with the team lead to shape the technical direction and delivery of products that empower artists and record labels around the world. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering partners to turn complex needs into reliable, scalable solutions. You’ll build performant scalable solutions, collaborate with other engineers, and help your team deliver meaningful outcomes for our users.

What you'll do:

● Collaborate on the technical design and delivery of products within a cross-functional team, connecting engineering decisions to user needs and business priorities.
● Develop across our technology stack, writing clean, tested, maintainable code and setting a high standard for engineering quality.
● Balance scalability, reliability, security, and performance with pragmatic delivery.
● Partner closely with Product and Design to understand requirements, assess trade-offs, and break complex initiatives into clear, achievable milestones.
● Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews, communicating decisions clearly and building alignment within your team.
● Drive improvements to testing, observability, deployment practices, and operational reliability.
● Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative culture of continuous learning and technical ownership.

Who you are:

● You bring 8+ years of software engineering experience.
● You have a strong track record of building and delivering full-stack web applications; we use TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Python.
● You have experience designing microservices and APIs, with a strong understanding of REST, HTTP, OAuth, and related standards.
● You bring strong knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and experience building and operating reliable production services.
● You understand how to improve application performance, page load times, and reliability.
● You champion automated testing, including unit and integration tests, and practical engineering standards that help teams deliver confidently.
● You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners, explaining complex ideas and helping teams make informed decisions.
● You’re comfortable working in an agile, product-led environment, navigating ambiguity, and balancing longer-term technical goals with immediate priorities.
● You enjoy mentoring others and creating an environment where engineers can contribute ideas, take ownership, and grow.

What we give you:

● A competitive salary and bonus scheme.
● Music perks, including free vinyl, gig tickets, live shows in our office, and opportunities to skip the queue at major UK festivals.
● An office environment with breathwork, yoga, and Pilates classes; monthly craft sessions, including perfume making, pottery, and sushi rolling; pub quizzes; and album and single launches.
● An on-site restaurant for breakfast and lunch, plus on-site baristas across two floors.
● Private healthcare and dental cover, with the option to include your family.
● 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays and our winter recess.
● Regular social activities, including drinks, running clubs, football teams, fantasy football, gigs, and a movie club.
● Quarterly PDEGO socials, including bowling, Formula 1, karaoke, and bingo.
● Discounts across other Sony brands, including electronics and movies.
● Entertainment and dining discounts through Tastecard, NightKey, and Gourmet Society.
● Opportunities to contribute to Sony Music’s Social Justice Fund.
● An inclusive, collaborative, global community where you can help fuel the creative journey.
● A modern office environment designed to support productivity, creativity, and teamwork.
● A generous pension scheme, life assurance, and income protection.
● Investment in your professional growth and development.
