SOC 1123 (75% match) is an eligible occupation, with a going rate of £54,000, and Fuse Energy is a licensed sponsor. That is our reading of the rules. Whether they issue a Certificate of Sponsorship is still their call.
This could also be SOC 2129 (Engineering professionals not elsewhere classified, Highly technical engineering development role across grid, power and infrastructure) or SOC 2455 (Construction project managers and related professionals, Infrastructure project development from concept to delivery readiness). We read the code off the advert, so it is our best guess, not the employer's.

About the role
We've raised over $200M from top-tier investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird and Collaborative Fund, alongside strategic angels including Nico Rosberg and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify and Uber.
We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.
As AI drives unprecedented demand for power and data centre capacity, the bottleneck is no longer chips: it's energy, grid infrastructure and the ability to deliver new capacity at speed. You'll take data centre projects from concept through to Ready-to-Build and energisation, owning the technical and development workstreams that turn a site from an opportunity into a deliverable project, across site selection, power strategy, grid connections, planning, engineering, design development, permitting, utility engagement and delivery readiness. This is a highly technical role for someone who understands both infrastructure development and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead data center developments from early-stage opportunity through Ready-to-Build and energisation
- Assess sites from technical, planning, power, and infrastructure perspectives
- Develop grid connection and power strategies with National Grid, DNOs, and utility providers
- Support planning, permitting, and stakeholder engagement processes
- Identify and mitigate technical and development risks
- Experience developing data centers or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Strong technical understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and utility systems, with the ability to evaluate engineering decisions and challenge technical assumptions
- Strong understanding of UK planning and grid connection processes
- Experience taking projects from early-stage development through design, permitting, and delivery readiness
- Highly analytical, self-directed, and comfortable with significant ownership
- Competitive salary and eligibility for equity
- Biannual bonus scheme
- Fully expensed tech to match your needs
- Private health insurance
- Breakfast and dinner allowance for office-based employees

Not necessarily. Fuse Energy holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
